Happy Birthday to Me: Lessons I’ve learned in the past 10 years.
Strongly on my way to my 40s, I am proud of who I've become, but I still sometimes feel like I could have done a few things better in my 30's to make life easier. Here are the lessons I’ve learned in the past 10 years.
1. Trust your gut and trust yourself.
2. Family is so important.
3. Your kids will grow up faster than you think.
4. Be financially independent.
5. Good friendships are priceless treasures.
6. Push out of your comfort zone.
7. Satisfaction comes from within. Always come back to how you feel.
8. Live in the season you’re in. This approach is a great way of finding presence.
9. Writing things down and making a plan—even if it’s loose.
10. The worst-case scenario rarely happens. Don’t let fear steer.
11. Don’t force anything. If the thing doesn’t fit, it doesn’t fit.
12. Take care of your body: Movement is crucial.
13. Don’t hold your big emotions. Let yourself cry. Let yourself laugh.
14. The act of practicing gratitude has a big impact on your mental health.
15. Late blooming is a wonderful thing. Don’t be afraid of it.
16. Sleep and hydration are essential. Protect them.
17. You’re never too late to do what you want to do.
18. Don’t be connected all the time. Spend time offline and spend time alone.
19. Don’t be afraid of discomfort. It’s often a gift—use it.
20. Everything passes.
21. Getting dressed every day makes you feel better.
22. Truly honest people are very rare to find.
23. You are capable of more than you realize.
24. Do something sexy for yourself. Boudoir shoot? Lingerie just for you? Have fun with it.
25. Take financial security seriously.
26. Wear sunscreen. It needs to become a daily habit.
27. The best investment you will ever make is in yourself.
28. Wine multiplies itself by itself. The more you have, the more you are likely to have.
29. Change is uncomfortable but necessary.
30. Forty isn’t old. There’s still time for you to be who you want to be. I want to move forward into this next decade and beyond with eyes wide open, taking in every moment as it comes.
